America Does Not Know How To Fight A War Anymore

I was watching an excellent documentary of the U.S.S. Enterprise and the battle for Guadalcanal. There was a description of a fierce naval battle that lasted for many hours during the night. While I was enjoying the story the narrator mentioned that when the sun rose there were Japanese and American soldiers/sailors floating in the water. They were all from the many ships that were sunk the previous night. The narrator said in a very calm voice that the U.S. Navy picked up the U.S. personnel and just machine gunned any "Japs" that were found alive. As I heard that I thought, "My Gosh that is how to fight a war!"

At the risk of being deemed a sadist I must lament the situation our military has been put in time and time again. I read about the young Marine who is on trial because he shot someone and will now spend the rest of his life in a military prison. How sad we have become as a nation! We take a young civilian and train him to kill. We teach him all the essentials of combat and then give them rifles, tanks and more fire support ever deemed possible by mankind. Then we handcuff them to a set of rules that are governed by a group of people who sit safely behind their plasma television.

I have a question to ask...If you went out to the mall and a person shot your best friend in the head would you not want revenge? If your best friend had his head cut off would you not want revenge? If your family was driving down the road and a bomb went off and killed your brother would you not want to get even?

Oh sure you could rationalize that they asked to be there and they need to accept it. My response is that those young warriors are keeping the enemies of America from destroying our way of life. If you believe that the world would just leave us alone you live the same delusion that Chamberlain did before Pearl Harbor. Much of the world wants America destroyed. There were many cheers worldwide when the trade center went down. You do remember the trade center? The big buildings in New York City?

I am not a war lover by any chance, I abhor war actually. I only wish that when you send the military to go fight a battle that you stop setting rules that only America follows. If we need to unleash the dogs of war then we need to take the chains off and just let them kill anything in their path. It does not matter what shrine they are in. It does not matter how many children provide the shield. If the enemy is there then they need to be destroyed. Killing ten innocents is better than allowing one U.S. Solider to die.

Being in the military is similar to a family. You train, live and work beside these people for years. You train to become one cohesive unit. If you have never been in the military you really have no clue as to how close this bond can become. If you still disagree and hate what I have to say then I have a suggestion: Why don't you go and book a flight to Israel? When you get there I suggest you travel to some other nations ,go out on your own and meet some of the people you are so hell bent on protecting. Chances are if you bring a Bible that alone is grounds for your beheading. Imagine that...Your head cut clean off because they disapprove of the book you are carrying!!!

If you think the war is over oil then stop using your car and all oil products or you are a hypocrite. It drives me crazy when I see a soccer mom with a bumper sticker of how she hates the war "for oil". If you hate the war and blame it on oil then start walking. Make sure your shoe have no petroleum byproducts in them.

I only wish that when the military is sent to destroy there be no cameras and minimal rules. Just like when the United States was in World War II. With all the tragedy of that war America lost less lives than almost any other nation. Maybe that was because we fought to win.
