My God Is Better Than Your God
I read all the stories about God and glance through all the scriptures quoted about this subject and about that subject. I have studied with the Catholic Church and the Mormon Church and the Baptist Church and the Jehovah Witness Church and even dabbled with the Muslim Religion. After spending time in each of these organizations I have become seriously disappointed with my findings. I also spent much time reading about many other sects of Christian churches and the results were the same. I am right and you are wrong One of my profound disappointments is what happens after you have been coddled by the masses of the congregation. Sure, when you are being courted (pre-baptism) it is all about love and acceptance and how great Jesus is and how he loves you and also about how we love one another. After awhile you are no longer the "new" face in the crowd and reality begins to set in and you realize that you have joined an "elite" group of Christians. What I mean by this is that the basic premise is that you are now a member of the "true" Christian church and all of the other people are going to hell. Case in point; Catholics believe they have the unbroken line of authority, hence the Pope. They even have more books in their Bible that others do not have. The Baptists believe that the Catholics are of the devil and actually murdered them during the early 1900's in many Southern areas as the Catholic Church arrived. The Mormons believe they have the authority straight from God and they are the chosen ones with the most accurate knowledge. The Jehovah Witnesses think they are right and again, everyone else is wrong. Muslims KNOW they are of God and many of them want to kill ALL of everyone else. The overriding theme of all the Christian (Muslim too) Churches is that their church is right and you are wrong. To stress this point even further let us divide the pot even more. Have you ever tried to hold a discussion with a Southern Baptist about the Bible? To them it is (AND I QUOTE) "the infallible word of God". No questions allowed, no discussion permitted, case is closed. If you do not accept Jesus in your heart you are going to Hell. With that being said they will explain to you their interpretation of the King James Version Bible, which is the same Bible the Mormons use (yes the Mormons use the King Jame Version Bible, exactly the same) but not the Bible the Catholics use. The Jehovah Witness group has their own unique publication of the Bible too which varies greatly from all the others. Mormons know the Book of Mormon is their "infallible word of God" and if you are not a member of their church you will not get to heaven, which really is a clever way of sending you to hell. Every major Christian church has at its core belief that they are right and you are wrong. If you doubt this ask a catholic if a baptism in another church is valid? Ask a Mormon if a Catholic baptism can get you a front row seat with God? Ask a Jehovah Witness where heaven is and you will be shocked at just how small it really will be in that "stadium". As far as Muslims are concerned you are all infidels and you need to have your head cut off and have your children raped. (Fox News 4/1/08) I thought about starting my own Christian sect and even thought up a few really cool names but then realized that by the creation of another church I would only be compounding the problem of Christian confusion. As a result, I have decided to stay on the sidelines and just be a good person. Please refrain from spouting scripture because that just makes me wonder about all the writings in the Apocrypha, which brings up another subject for another date. As I close out this discussion please do not damn me and definitely do not pity me. My choice to not make a choice is actually a choice. If you tell me my non choice will give me an express ticket to the afterlife BBQ that is alright. My front row seat in hell is only from your perspective and from my perspective you will join me because you are not in the "right" church. At least that is from everyone else's perspective. If a church has no rules about being a member that is alright also because I am not a member there either. It all gives me a headache and that is why I call in sick every Sunday.

The truth is we are all born Atheists with no beliefs. What every we believe or choose not to believe is learned. It is learned by experience or by circumstantial evidence. A common example of circumstantial evidence would be "everybody believes this or that" so it MUST be true. If we repeat whatever that belief is we begin to except it as truth. Consensus is not a very good barometer of truth. One only has to consider that EVERYBODY knows the earth is flat as late as the 1600's.
